MDSM #33

 

This week I decided to make my MDS Monday Challenge Page a Monochromatic Layout!

 

Here is the sketch:

I love reminding myself that pages don't HAVE to be super involved & complicated to still look great.  I LOVE how this super-simple page turned out!!

Friday Feature!

Hello & Happy Friday!!

I'm sorry I skipped yesterday, but I was getting ready for this awesome project reveal today!  (I actually had to make it...& remind myself to take photos as I went because I always seem to forget to do that!)

 You need: a 10" Styrofoam wreath, straight pins, a thimble (optional), a Bone Folder & 6 sheets of Designer Series Paper to get started.

Cut your Designer Series Paper (DSP) into 1/2" strips.  (I did this until I had 4" of each paper left)

 Using your Bone Folder, curl your 1/2" strips.  Be careful not to curl too much, or the paper will actually stop curling & straighten out (ask me how I know!?!)...but you can curl them tighter with your fingers if they're not tight enough. ;)

 

Start pinning each paper curl onto the wreath...randomly...

 

I have issues with 'random' placement of anything, so this was a challenge for me.  I was, however, determined to step out of my comfort-zone & make this work!

 

Continue pinning paper curls until the whole wreath is full...at least the top & kind of down the edges...you want it to lay flat against the wall or door that you're going to hang it on.

 

After that, I added some Chevron Ribbon to hang it by, some glitter-bats on wire & a Rosette made out of one of the 4" strips of DSP that I had left.

 

Next was deciding what to put inside the Rosette...

 

I chose this, but you could use any number of items...the Witches Brew Banner Kit actually has lots of cool glitter images & supplies to make Rosettes too!  (The Banner Kit would make decorating your wreath in coordinating colors super-easy!!!)

Wednesday Wonders!

Well, it's Wednesday again...half-way through the week...hump-day...that much closer to the weekend...whatever gets you through the week, I guess. ;)  I've never really had an issue with Wednesdays...they are good days!  & this week is no exception...although I could ask for better weather...the near-constant rain & over-cast skies we've had the last 3 days are starting to drain my energy...I NEED the sun to thrive & I am trying to patiently wait for it's return.  In the mean-time, there has been more movie-watching, couch-laying, & napping here than normal...& it's the weather's fault!  Luckily hubby understands! :)

But on to better things...the Wednesday Wonders!!!!!  Well, these were actually released yesterday, which would make them Tuesday Treasures...but my blog post went out before these showed up, so I'm sharing them today!

Card Club Tuesday...

On Saturday, we had our Monthly Card Club! 

(If you'd like info on starting your very own Card Club, just let me know!)

 

This month's theme was Halloween/Fall, so here are the cards I designed!

 

 We used the Tags 4 You & Tape It stamps sets.  I love Tape It...there's nothing like being able to stamp your own Washi Tape...in any color you want!

MDS Monday! (MDSM32)

I'm starting out yet another week with the MDS Monday Challenge!  If you can't tell, I LOVE the inspiration I get from this wonderful group of ladies...as well as the awesome submissions to this challenge each week!

 

I started out with this sketch:

I'm also honored to be mentioned again this week!  Come join us so you can be mentioned too! 

 

 I went into MDS & had it randomly select a color grouping for me to use...& I put this card together!

(Yes, I know it's a little different from the sketch...that's the glorious thing about INSPIRATION!!!  You don't have to copy it exactly!)

I was almost too simple, but I love the way it turned out!!

 

Then I hopped over to the Fab Friday Challenge to see what they were up to this week...since I hadn't checked in over there in a while...& I LOVED their color combo too!  So I re-did the card to match their color challenge!  Although I had it done in enough time to submit it, I didn't want to post my creation quite yet. (I look forward to my MDS Monday posting!)  Even though I didn't submit it, I still love it & wanted to share! 

This was also super easy to change the colors! 

All you have to do is: Insert a duplicate page & click on each element & change it's color!  Can you imagine how sweet it will be to make baby cards...quick design & then change the colors to boy, girl or neutral?!?  Or even birthday cards?!? 

 

I LOVE MY MDS SOFTWARE!!!!!

Fabulous Friday!

Hello all & Welcome to Fabulous Friday!

Today was my cousin's birthday...22nd birthday, to be exact!  & since she is in Florida right now participating in the College Program at Walt Disney World, I am lucky enough to see her more often than I see any others on my side of the family.  I was also honored that she asked my daughter & I to spend her birthday with her!!!  Soo...we went up & had an amazing lunch at the Whispering Canyon Café at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  I had been there before, but it had been a while...the resort always amazes me though!  This HUGE log cabin style get-away...right in the middle of Central Florida!  It is gorgeous...& if you ever visit Disney, even if you're not staying there, I highly recommend you go visit the resort & sit in the lobby for a little while, just to take in the beauty!

 Saffron is enjoying her lunch too!

This was the card I made for her...even though I didn't get a pic of her opening it. :(  Stitch is her favorite character!!  (I'm also working on a whole line of this style cards with some other characters...so keep an eye out if you're a Disney Fan!!)

When we left there, we headed to the Magic Kingdom for just a bit.  There is a Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tonight, so the park closed to regular guests at 7 p.m.

We had a blast there too...can't you tell!?!

I just wanted to share a little bit about my Fabulous Friday this week!  What did you do today?!?

Gearing up for Halloween!

What are your Halloween Plans?!?  Trick-or-Treating?  Halloween Party?  Sending cards? Decorating your house?!?

 

Monday was a creative day here in my Studio!  I made a total of 7 NEW card designs!!!  While I'm not going to share them all with you right now, I am going to share my favorite Halloween card design!  (It's super-simple too, which is perfect for making a bunch to send out!)

Supplies:

Cardstock: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Ink: Pumpkin Pie

Punch: Label Bracket

Stamp Set: Tags 4 You

Embellishments: Witches' Brew Washi Tape

Adhesives: Multipurpose Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals

MDS Monday! (MDSM31)

Well, we are once again at Monday...probably my favorite 'blogging' day!  I mean, really...if Monday 'has' to come every week, it may as well be good for something, right?!?  Well, the gals over at MDS Monday have definitely given me a reason to LOVE Mondays! ;)  I find myself checking their blog often (even though I know I will get any posts in an e-mail...but sometimes my e-mail is slow to show up!)...looking for any new challenges, posts, comments, ANYTHING! LOL

 

Mondays are also the day I get to share MY latest MDS Creation for the current Challenge!!!  So why would I hate Mondays?!?  Yes, it's the beginning of a new week...the weekend is over & hubby has to go back to work...but MDS has gotten to be such a FUN program, that I can't help but be excited to share with all of you!

 

So...without any further delay, here is the sketch for the page this week:

I usually get a good idea about what photos/colors/papers/etc I am going to use as soon as I see the sketch...& I love it even more when it actually works out that way!

 

I was also Honored with the title of MDS Monday Master for the last Challenge!  I am humbled to be honored as often as I have been & I invite all of you to join me in these Challenges.  I never thought that I would be able to create such beautiful works of art in My Digital Studio & I know you can too!

 

I will be starting a Monthly MDS Class soon.  If you are interested, keep an eye on my Calendar of Events for more details!  This will be an 'in-person' class at first, but I hope to be able to offer an on-line/long-distance one shortly after the launch.  (If you are interested in the on-line option, please let me know so I can get an idea of how fast I need to get this up & running!)

Throwback Thursday...Disney-style!

While I'm on a Disney kick this week, I figured I'd share a couple Throwback photos!

 

Originally, I thought I'd share these pics of me after my very first night working on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom:

 I was soo happy & had a great time at work!

 

Then I thought I might find some even older pics of me working at Disney, but those seem to have been some of what I lost in one of my many hard-drive crashes. :( 

 

Soo...maybe I have a few prints around that I can scan in one day & share...I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

MDS Monday!

I must admit that I was very resistant to digital scrapbooking & paper-crafting for a long, long time!  I must also say that I took it very slow in the beginning...I found myself extremely overwhelmed with everything that was out there, I had 'other things' to do when I was on the computer (paper-crafting was an escape...I didn't want to sit on the computer to do that too) & I will admit, I may have been a little scared that I would enjoy it!  I mean, really, I have a WHOLE ROOM of scrapbooking & stamping supplies...so much so that I will probably never get around to using everything I own & I still buy more!  SO the questions came...What if I loved digital just as much?!?  How would I find the time to do BOTH?!?  Could I justify purchasing digital AND 'real' supplies?!?  Do I 'need' another hobby...something else to take up my already limited 'free' time?

 

The answers: Yes I do & YES I CAN!!!  It's all become a matter of priorities, doing what I enjoy & allowing myself time to myself...even if the dishes sit in the sink for an extra few hours...or even a day.  I'M WORTH IT!  I deserve to do some things for me & SO DO YOU!

Now that I have been participating in the MDS Monday Challenges for 7 weeks, I will admit that I LOVE digital scrapbooking!!!!!  I was even named 'MDS Master' for MDSM Challenge 27, which totally shocked me!  I wish I would have started sooner!  I still 'traditional' scrapbook as well but I'm finding that with a 1 year old it's much easier to work on a few elements of a page at a time & not have to lug everything out to do it!  Plus, these challenges are so much fun!

 

If you're afraid that you can't 'find the time' for something new, I'm here to tell you that it can be done!  You just have to decide what's most important to you!  And in some cases, what you're willing to sacrifice to be able to do it.

 I may have taken a little more 'creative license' with the sketch this week than I usually do, but I did take the 'ADDED CHALLENGE' this time!  "FRAMES!"

There is a frame added behind my photos, as well as frames added to each photo!

 

I'm working on the coordinating page for this layout too!

 

I'm soo excited to get these pages done & printed so I can get them in her album!  Now the decision is going to have to be made as to whether to put them in with the traditional pages or make a whole digital album?!?
