This MDS Challenge is a Card Sketch. Talk about stepping WAY outside of my comfort zone!?! I have used MDS for a couple years now, but usually just for flyers, coupons & other 'advertising' type things. I plugged some photos into a few pre-made layouts in the past, just so that I had some samples to print out...but I just started actually using MDS to create scrapbook pages!
Cards, not so much...until NOW!
Here is the sketch for this challenge:
Click on the photo to go to the Challenge Page!
I went & looked at the submissions soo far...& did not expect to find soo many Layouts submitted for a Card Challenge. (I AM new to this!!!) I really like many of them...& some of the cards as well, but I knew right away that I didn't want to do what 'everyone else is doing'...so I tried to do a card...without using the sketch exactly...or CASEing the other samples that I liked...mostly the ones with the hexagons!
Keep in mind that this is my FIRST MDS CARD!!!!!
Please comment & let me know what you think about it! Good or bad, I'd love to hear what you have to say.
Now...I also promised the chance to WIN a FREE GIFT!!!!! Here's what you need to do to WIN:

Just a quick post to share something that's been a week in the making!
If you read Monday's post, you remember me mentioning that I was starting to try more My Digital Studio (MDS) projects & that Jena suggested these challenges as a 'jumping point' for learning new things in the software...
Well...In order to submit my creation to the Challenge, I need to have a link to it!
Soo...here is the challenge sketch:
Click on the photo of the sketch to go to the Blog & see all the amazing pages that were submitted!
And here is MY version!
Of course, I'm a 'double-page' scrapper...so I will be adding a coordinating page to this before I have it printed for her album...but this will do for the challenge!
I hope you all enjoy! I should have ANOTHER MDS item to share on Monday and I feel a CONTEST of my own coming soon too! Keep a keen eye here for more!
More years ago than I like to admit, I worked at a Boy Scout Camp for a summer...or two. The staff became very good friends, but since we lived all over the neighboring states, we rarely saw each other outside of Camp. So we celebrated Christmas in July! We had a tree with lights & decorations...a special dinner and SANTA even came to see us & pass out our gifts!
The fond memories of these events have led me to hold some kind of Christmas in July celebration throughout my life! Some years it is a larger celebration than others, but not a year goes by that I don't recognize this day in some fashion!
This year, in addition to a Christmas in July Card Making Event at my Studio, I am also sharing with you a couple cards made with some NEW PRODUCTS that will be available in the Holiday Catalog starting August 1st! These are NOT included in the cards for the event tomorrow, but will be an option for a private class once the catalog goes 'live' on August 1st.
While these cards use a few of the same supplies & a lot of the same colors, I still find that they have a different 'feel' from each other.
Supply List:
Stamps: Love & Joy (available Aug 1st)
Ink: Old Olive (#126953)
Paper: Old Olive (#100702); Cherry Cobbler (#119685); Whisper White (#100730); Baked Brown Sugar (#131296); Seasons of Style Designer Series Paper Stack (available Aug 1st)
Embellishments: Large Rhinestone Jewels (#125577); 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon in Cherry Cobbler (#120992)
Please let me know what you think about these cards! If you'd like to book a Private Class for you & your friends, I'd love to set up a date with you! Book NOW to get the best date selection!!!
This Week for Wacky Wednesday, I'm going to share some details of a Special Promotion that Stampin' Up! is running...and some samples to go along with the products!

There are a few exclusions on this promotion. The following items are NOT included in the sale:
Designer Series Paper STACKS
SPECIALTY Designer Series Paper
If you're not sure, just ask! However, all of the sale DSP packs included in the special should be $10.95.
Thanks for reading! Come back tomorrow for more!!!
A complete list of supplies (with Item #'s) will be available at the end of this post!
Decide what shape you'd like to use for your image. I chose a Heart from the Hearts Framelits.
Cut the image out of your 'extra' cardstock...where you would like your image to be on your card. (The paper is 1/4 inch taller than your card to help keep ink off your fold when stamped...keep this in mind when placing your shape.)
Now you have your MASK!
Place your mask over the front of your folded card.
Ink up your background stamp.
I'm using the Positively Chevron Background Stamp & the Coastal Cabana Ink pad!
Stamp your background over your MASK!
Press firmly...without rocking & hold for 6-10 seconds.
Remove your MASK. Your image might be a little 'rough' around the edges.
This gives it character!! Enjoy the 'different-ness' of stamping through a cardstock mask!
Choose a greeting or sentiment and another ink color to add to your card. I chose 'I Miss You Already' from Really Good Greetings & Chocolate Chip ink.
Choose a small punch and a coordinating color.
I chose the Small Heart Punch & Strawberry Slush Cardstock.
Punch out your accent! (a small butterfly or flower would be awesome choices as well!)
Use a small drop of 2-Way Glue Pen or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to place the accent & accent it with a Rhinestone (or more if you'd like!!)
Soo...thanks once again go to Jena! Thank you for soo many things!!! Thank you for getting me to play with MDS more, for getting me to work on my Blog, for helping me brainstorm ideas & for attempting to keep me on track a little more often...& mostly for just being there...on the other side of the country (almost), but just an IM, text, phone call or e-mail away...anytime I need you! It really is amazing how you can build friendships & relationships with people you have never met in person with the technology we have today! (Soo much quicker than my pen-pals of the 'olden days'...when we had to rely on 'snail-mail' to write to each other!!) lol
Now, you're probably wondering when I'm going to get to the stuff this post is actually about... How about right NOW?!?
Jena told me about this Blog that does MDS challenges every week...& told me how she started doing them to get some more 'practice' using our amazing My Digital Studio software. While I wanted to go there right away & jump in, I didn't make it. Instead, I glanced quickly at the current challenge & the submissions that were already in...LOVED the layout design & thought, "There is NO WAY I'm going to be able to learn how to do THAT in just 2 days!" So...I closed it & went on with my list of everything else that I needed to do...keeping it in my head that I WOULD learn how to do that & make a layout with that design, even if it was too late to submit it. I'm extremely happy to say that it was not as difficult to learn as I expected (& then I was kicking myself for not just doing it then & submitting it to the challenge)...
Here is the challenge sketch:
Click on the photo of the sketch to go to the Blog & see all the amazing pages that were submitted!
And here is the 2-page spread that I made!!!!! ( I wish I could figure out how to get them to sit next to each other, but that will have to be something I learn later...)
I hope you enjoy!! If you need more info about My Digital Studio or you would like to purchase the download, please go HERE! If you would like the software on a disc, it is available here as well! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
No...I'm not physically in Salt Lake City, enjoying this year's Annual Stampin Up! Convention...although I'm there in spirit! However, I do have many friends there...and a couple people that are doing their best to keep me up-to-date on all the cool announcements!!
So...special Thanks to Kathy & Jena for keeping me up to speed!
I've found more info on the Demo Website so that I can share this exciting information with all of you!
