...& that means it's time for Unity's Friends with Flair!
Today I am sharing a card that I made LATE last night! (& when I say LATE...I mean I went to bed 10 minutes before hubby's alarm went off at 3:30 a.m.)
It's really a super-simple card...Here are the steps:
-Stamped this adorable Owl on some Soft Sky Stampin' Up! Cardstock
-colored it with some basic Crayola Colored Pencils
-brushed it with my Aqua Painters just to see what it did...& while it's not super obvious, I loved watching the colors pop when they got wet...
-used my Aqua Painters to make the paper tear a bit softer than a dry-tear
-put a little Tombow Multipurpose liquid glue around the edge & dipped the edges in Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter
-added some Crystal Effects over the eyes & the heart for dimension (you can see this in the next photo)
-found an old piece of patterned paper in my stash that I liked with the colors that I chose to color with...which were selected randomly...and that is crazy for me, but I love how it turned out none the less!
-stamped the sentiment directly on the patterned paper
-mounted everything on a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock (owl piece is on Stampin' Dimensionals)
Here is a close-up before the Crystal Effects.
I had also spent a bit of time on the Unity Blog Hop before I threw this card together...& I was being inspired to try new things & mixed media too! Before I did the card, this little owl actually inspired me to try to stamp on a tumbled marble tile that I 'had to have' & hadn't tried yet.
I sorted through the box & found one of the tiles had a rust spot/stain. I sanded it a bit to get rid of the bright orange & decided that it was a good tile to try my first stamping on...
I stamped this little guy & sentiment in Momento Ink, colored the heart with some pastels & brushed the whole thing with some Crystal Effects.
Keep in mind I have never done anything like this...so I had no clue what products to use! (I think I need to do some research & try some other things though... Any suggestions or experiences are welcome to be shared with me if you want to help me!)
But...for my first attempt, I am very happy with him!!!
I'm gonna get some felt or rubber feet for the back of the tile & he will the new coaster for my studio!
I'm sure I will enjoy my Pepsi even more when I pick it up & see this guy smiling at me!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
